Good afternoon, fellow bloggers! My name is Amanda (Mrs. Robins to my students) and I am a part-time interventionist at Bunker Hill Elementary School, located in Bunker Hill, WV. This school serves Kindergarten through third grade. I currently work with 21 reading students and 1 (third grade) math student.
Currently my favorite, and only at the time, administrative resource is Microsoft Excel. I use this technology tool as a means of keeping record of how my intervention students are progressing on a weekly basis. The data is then able to be represented into individual charts/graphs to see a picture of the progress the particular student is making (both increasing or decreasing). The weekly progress monitoring data that is collected is a way of keeping the teachers and administration aware of how students are progressing (or not) in their reading skills. The administration, our school psychologist and vice principal in particular, look at the graphs mentioned and decide if a child is not progressing at a rate they would desire to see happen and then discuss whether or not that child should be tested for a learning/reading disability. Excel allows me to keep the records of each student organized and accessible at an instant log in of a school-networked computer. My next blog posting will discuss some of the administrative technology resources I would use if I had a regular education classroom.
